20TH WJFF AUDIENCE FAVORITE AWARDS
Favorite Feature Film
A MATTER OF SIZE
Our opening night sell-out from Israel won the audience's hearts and votes.  We were delighted to host special guests from the Israeli box office hit, actor Dvir Benedek, co-screenwriter Danny Cohen-Solal and co-producer Micha Shagrir.  Upon learning of the award, Dvir wrote, "Thank you for the wonderful news.  We're all very happy about it. Your audience is perfect, I saw that throughout the screenings.  We are very proud to be a part of this amazing festival."

Favorite Documentary Film
WILL EISNER:  PORTRAIT OF A SEQUENTIAL ARTIST
Comic book fans and the uninitiated were won over by this innovative documentary about the comic book pioneer whose work is the basis for today's popular genre of graphic novels.  The film's producer/director Andrew Cooke wrote "We were thrilled to simply be a part of the festival.  So to receive an award -- particularly the audience award --is beyond our expectations and a great honor. I, along with everyone else involved with WILL EISNER: PORTRAIT OF A SEQUENTIAL ARTIST are extremely grateful.  We would like to thank the WJFF for hosting us along with it’s many wonderful supporters as well as all those who voted for the film."

Favorite Short Film
TOYLAND
The Academy Award winning short film captured the admiration of our shorts audience.  Director Jochen Alexander Freydank wrote "I'm very happy about this award. It was really tough to produce TOYLAND, a film set in Winter 1942, in Nazi-Germany. A story I always wanted to tell and a story that means a lot to me, it's a film about ignorance, truth and about making decisions. Winning the audience award at the Washington Jewish Film Festival is really wonderful. "
