FIRST COUSIN ONCE REMOVED
Dir. Alan Berliner (78min, USA, 2012)
Documentary
Mid-Atlantic Premiere

Director Alan Berliner, Co-Producer Shari Spiegeli, and Film Subject Eli Berliner expected

“I’m interested in your experience. Who you are right now…Is there anything you’ll never forget?”  When treasured American filmmaker Alan Berliner poses these questions to distinguished poet and translator Edwin Honig, there’s more at play than an intellectual tit for tat. Honig—a man defined by his brilliant mind—is in a gradual state of mental decay due to Alzheimer’s. Instead of focusing on Honig’s plight however, Berliner offers a more intriguing mix of neurological mystery, striking moments of humor and genuine ode to a friend, mentor and relative.
