At the turn of the 20th century, individuals from across Europe brought their pioneering spirit and ideals of a revolution to Palestine, with a dream to create a new and more equal society. Among these pioneers were the fierce women who came to Palestine to realize the dream of creating a new woman in a new world.

Through amazing found footage and personal diaries, The Women Pioneers uncovers the course of their passionate battles and painful disappointments, dedicating their lives to realize their personal liberation and national struggle.

Michal Aviad has been working as a director and producer of documentary films in San Francisco and Tel Aviv since 1986. Her works include Acting Our Age, Ever Shot Anyone?, Jenny and Jenny, and Invisible. Aviad teaches film production at Tel Aviv University. She is also the coordinator of the Tel Aviv International Students Film Festival.
