VOLUNTEER

Want to volunteer for the WJFF this year?  We'd love to have you join us!  Each year, over 100 volunteers make the WJFF happen by doing everything form stuffing envelopes and taking tickets to escorting guests and staffing special events.

VOLUNTEER BENEFITS

As a Festival volunteer, you are part of fun, friendly community of film-lovers and other people who know that for 11 days in December, the WJFF is the place to be.

>Free 20th WJFF t-shirt - When you arrive for your first volunteer shift, you will be given a WJFF T-shirt. It is yours to keep, but please be sure to wear your T-shirt at all times when you are volunteering.

>Free parking for WJFF volunteers working evenings at the DCJCC.  Park in the Colonial Parking Garage at 1616 P Street NW. Bring your parking ticket with you to the DCJCC and a staff person or Theater Operations manager will give you a validation sticker to affix to your parking ticket.  Volunteers cannot park in the J's Q Street lot.

>For every full shift that you work as a volunteer, you are eligible for 1 ticket to see a film of your choice. There are five tickets set aside for each film for volunteers excluding Opening and Closing Nights and sold-out screenings.  Volunteers must reserve one of the five spaces at least 48 hours in advance by emailing the date, time and name of the requested film to volunteer@wjff.org.  Please keep this benefit in mind when selecting the shifts you want to work. You CANNOT see the film that is screening during the shift that you are working.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR VOLUNTEER SHIFTS
Most WJFF volunteers work in Theater Operations as ushers, ticket takers, at will call tables, directing our patrons and selling t-shirts. To select your Theater Operations volunteer shift(s), please begin by clicking below on the date you'd like to work.  This will lead you to all the available shifts for the chosen day.  In our online system, signing up for your shift will look like you are buying a ticket for that date, time and place, but there is no cost.  You can select one or more volunteer shifts each day, but only for one person at a time.  Return to this Volunteer page to select volunteer shifts for another day.  PLEASE REMEMBER:  Volunteers do not see films during their shifts, so do NOT sign up for shifts during times of films you want to see.
