Eileen Pollack
In the Mouth: Stories and Novellas
$9, Discounted Member Price $6

In four gripping stories and two novellas, In the Mouth focuses on family relationships, especially those between fathers and their daughters. Pollack depicts the lives of a generation of Jewish men who survived the Depression and World War II and worked hard to raise families. In settings ranging from Florida to her native Catskills, Pollack explores her characters’ passions, morals and secrets, affectionately portraying the lives of Jews in America today. One story, The Bris, has been selected for The Best American Short-Stories 2008. These emotionally wise and wryly funny stories will remind us all to celebrate our families—in spite of, and because of, their little quirks.
