Thomas Keneally, author of Schindler's List,—subject of Steven Spielberg's Academy Award-winning motion picture—delivers a devastating, impeccably researched work that tells the true-life, war-time story of Kurt Gerstein (Paul Morella), an adored young German caught on the wrong side of history. Initially supportive of the ascension of Hitler, Gerstein quickly becomes disillusioned and moves to sabotage shipments of Zyklon B and alert the Vatican about the atrocities to which he bears witness as an SS officer.
Theater J Blog: The Corrie Play Continues to Cause ControversyMay 11th, 2007, Ari RothWe know the Yoni Netanyhu play in question, originally called YONI and later retitled TO PAY THE PRICE by Peter Cohen. A play we’ve passed on, but read with interest. (We also know the substitute play by the talented young Israeli-American author Zohar Tirosh.) It’s a shame that the family has withdrawn permission to an author who was serving Yoni Netanyahu’s legacy respectfully. A shame that MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE continues to take hostages whenever it’s produced by a not-for-profit theater company. Read on...
