Theater J's 2007-2008 Season
As “The Little Theater That Could…And Did!” we've been doing some amazing things together these last ten years.
We've amassed an extraordinary body of original work Assembled an incredibly committed core audience, andBurnished a national and international reputation By cooking up a healthy dramatic diet of urgent, intimate and always gutsy new work alongside spirited revivals with dialogues between our audience and our art extending well beyond the proscenium.
Now, as we enter our second decade, we're opening ourselves up to a new stage:
We're Exercising our Passions Picking our Favorites, and Feeding our PleasuresProducing the most Powerful and Populist work in our History With an unprecedented Investment in Top Talent all season long!
We're living up to our billing -- and responsibility - as one of the Premier Playwrights Theaters in the Nationand Finest Jewish Theaters in the World by being many things to many people - a Home For Great Playwrights and A Stage To Be Swept Away By, As new musicals take flight and iconic plays from the past plant deep roots in our hearts.
We're serving up a hearty meal of red meat drama, theatrical soufflé, with delectable desserts served between every course!
In short: Comedy. Klezmer. And Dance. We've got more of it than ever.
Catharsis. Classics. And Star Power.
This is the year we stand poised to soar. Grow with us. Eat from this great theatrical banquet with us. And savor.
Get a load of who's working with us and make plans to be around. Subscribe! You'll be investing in one of the hottest theatrical stocks on the market!
Oh, and a confession: This season is full of Guilty Pleasures. Plays picked quite simply because we love them! Is that so wrong? Robert Prosky in The Price playing alongside his two sons? Please! My best bud Peter Birkenhead and his cousin Matthew Arkin - two of the funniest actors to appear on a Broadway stage - sinking their teeth into Mamet? And who knew that comedienne Judy Gold would be such an astonishingly innovative actress? What I do know is that Daniel Hoffman is a world-class violinist and composer who'll be with us not just once, but for both our musicals, launching a brand new work about King David written by our very own Jewish Shakespeare, Yehuda Hyman!
Join us for the sheer pleasure. For the passion. The power. And all those plentiful Proskys!
