Theater J does not accept unsolicited scripts. Most of the new plays we consider for production have come out of meaningful relationships we have developed with emerging and established playwrights. Instead of reading unsolicited scripts, we devote our resources to attending readings and productions, participating in the New Play Exchange via NNPN, and reading plays that are recommended by our close colleagues and the artists who we work with.
We will continue to accept agent-submitted scripts. Please email those to LitOffice@TheaterJ.org.
If you are a local playwright that lives within a 60 mile radius of the metro DC area and are interested in learning more about the Locally Grown program, please send an introductory email to Associate Artistic Director Shirley Serotsky at Shirley@theaterj.org.
We are always on the lookout for part time interns to help with our busy literary department. Work with the Literary Director to organize scripts and correspondence with playwrights and agents, help with the dramaturgy for Theater J’s season of plays, assist in the production of study guides, and help with educational program study guides.
Email Shirley Serotsky, if you are interested in hearing more.
