Volunteer Opportunities
1. GLOE is creating a programming committee whose ultimate goal will be to create, develop, plan and execute ideas for upcoming GLOE programs. Some programming that we are specifically looking to discuss includes LGBT Jewish family programming, interfaith programming, volunteering within the Jewish and LGBT community and social justice focused initiatives. This newly formed committee will meet monthly beginning in August. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Justin Lerner at justinl@washingtondcjcc.org or at (202) 777-3253.
2. GLOE is teaming up with Food & Friends to volunteer monthly. Food & Friends is a metro-accessible (Fort Totten on the red, yellow and green lines) organization that fosters a caring community for over 1400 people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-changing illnesses by preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries in conjunction with nutrition counseling. GLOE will have 6-8 volunteers prepare meals at the site once a month. Volunteers do not need to commit to every month in order to volunteer. A GLOE team captain will coordinate volunteers each month based on their schedules. If you would like to become a volunteer or to become the GLOE team captain, please contact Justin Lerner at justinl@washingtondcjcc.org or at (202) 777-3253.
