SIX THIRTY IN THE EVENING
at the Washington District of Columbia Jewish Community Center

On April 1 more than 300 friends and colleagues filled the magnificent Irwin P. Edlavitch Building in support of the Washington DCJCC at the 2008 Annual Gala and celebrated the Center’s many programs and the breadth of its contributions to the community.  This year’s Gala, chaired by Mindy Strelitz and Andrew Cornblatt and Lynn and John Sachs, raised more than $300,000 in critical funds needed for the Center's operations, programs and services.

The 2008 Gala Committee’s dedication and hard work created a successful fresh format for the event, transforming the J into a grand cocktail reception with bountiful buffets and fanciful drinks and entertainment by the fabulous Phil Flowers following the program and rousing live auction. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2008 Lee G. Rubenstein Outstanding Leadership Award to Diane Bernstein, lifelong philanthropist, champion of children’s causes and great supporter and friend of the Center, who was movingly introduced by her son, Joshua Bernstein.

It was an incredible evening overflowing with warmth and goodwill and the Washington DCJCC would like to acknowledge and extend its appreciation to all those who generously supported the 2008 Annual Gala.
