 Meet the Counselors:

We're are in the process of hiring our counselors and having them fill out our questionnaires so you can get to know them better.   I'll keep posting them as they're sent to me.  We have a number of last summer's staff returning this summer as well as some awesome new staff members!

ALISON, Camp Director

My name is Alison, and I am the Camp Director! At the time of camp, I will be 27 years old. I was born in New Jersey, and I live in Bethesda, MD.  I went to school at the University of Maryland, and my favorite subject/area of study was Education.  I have 1 sister. Her name is Erica.  I also have two dogs named Kayci and Molly (who was rescued from Hurricane Katrina)!  At camp, my favorite things to do are sports and field trips. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are playing soccer and watching reality TV.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, and anything reality, and I really like to listen to Sublime and Rascal Flatts. My favorite food is pizza.

AMY, Junior Counselor

My name is Amy, and I’m going to be a Junior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 17 years old. I was born in Washington, DC and I live in Bethesda. I go to school at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, and my favorite subject is math. I want to be a zookeeper someday. I have one brother named David and one sister named Elana. I also have a dog named Cassie. At camp, my favorite things to do are arts and crafts and sports. During the rest if the year, my favorite activity is playing trumpet. My favorite TV show is Top Chef, and I really like to listen to Disney songs. My favorite food is macaroni and cheese.

BRETT, Sports Specialist

My name is Brett, and I am going to be a Sports Specialist this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 33 years old. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and I live in Maryland. I work at Barnaby Manor/ Thomas Stone Elementary School and my favorite subject/area of study is PE. I want to be owner of a sports facility/party place someday. I have one brother named Eric and one sister named Caryn. At camp, my favorite things to do are teaching sports and keeping children active. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are sports, reading, going to spring training and training camp, and visiting family all over. My favorite movie is Rudy, and I really like to listen to The Fan and any music besides country. My favorite food is anything Italian. I look forward to a fun summer working with you in sports and teaching you the value of being a good sport.

CLAIRE, Senior Counselor

My name is Claire, and I am going to be a Senior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 18 years old. I was born in Washington, DC, and I live in Maryland.  I will be going to college in the fall, and my favorite subject/area of study is theater and history. I want to be a director someday.  I have 1 brother. His name is Tim and he used to work at the J! I also have a cat named Pepper.  At camp, my favorite things to do are go on field trips, play hand-clapping games and gimp. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are helping with and performing in shows.  My favorite movies or TV shows are 30 Rock and Glee, and I really like to listen to Lady Gaga, Beyonce and John Meyer. My favorite food is pizza.

JAMIE, CIT Senior Counselor

My name is Jamie Meyers, and I’m going to be a Senior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 29 years old. I was born in St. Louis, MO, and I live in Tenleytown. I’m a little too old for school, but my favorite subject/area of study is Counseling. I am an Elementary Guidance Counselor. I have one brother and two sisters. Their names are Matt, Morgan, and Julie. I also have two German Shepards named Sophie and Chloe. At camp, my favorite things to do are swimming and singing. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are going to concerts and hanging out with friends. My favorite TV shows are So You Think You Can Dance and Modern Family, and I really like to listen to Counting Crows, Jason Reeves and Matt Hires. My favorite food is sushi and Mexican. I am so excited to meet all of the CITs!!! We are going to have a great summer!

LAURA, Head Counselor

My name is Laura, and I’m going to be Head Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 23 years old. I was born in Cleveland, OH and I live in Columbia Heights. I recently graduated from Pitzer College in 2009, and my favorite subjects/areas of study are English, literature, international & intercultural studies, and language. I want to be a teacher someday. I have one brother named Max. I have no pets, but one of my housemates has two adorable cats named Clawdius and Livia. At camp, my favorite things to do are silly games, arts and crafts, and making new friends. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities include dancing, enjoying live music, reading, and traveling around the world. My favorite TV show is Arrested Development and my favorite movie is Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. I love all kinds of music and right now I’m really into The Black Keys, Mos Def, and Vampire Weekend. My favorite foods are Thai and Indian. Campers, I’m so excited to get to know all of you! This summer is going to be awesome!

MATTHEW, Senior Counselor

My name is Matthew, and I am going to be a Senior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 19 years old. I was born in Washington, DC, and I live in Bethesda, MD.  I go to school at Landmark College, and my favorite subject/area of study is music and psychology. I want to be a psychologist someday.  I have 1 brother and 1 sister. Their names are Daniel and Ali  I also have a dog and a cat named Maggie and Joey.  At camp, my favorite things to do are play guitar and sing. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are playing frisbee and my guitar.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Scrubs, Family Guy and The Office, and I really like to listen to rock, folk, jazz and acapella music. My favorite food is my mom's homemade lasagna.

MOLLIE, Senior Counselor

My name is Mollie, and I am going to be a Senior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 21 years old. I was born in Silver Spring, and I live in Bethesda, MD.  I go to school at Goucher College, and my favorite subject/area of study is history. I want to be a teacher someday.  I have 1 brother and 1 sister. Their names are Saul and Emma.  I also have a cat named Reese.  At camp, my favorite things to do are swim and art. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are reading and dancing.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Big Bang Theory and Project Runway, and I really like to listen to Jason Mraz and Coldplay. My favorite food is dessert, especially chocolate.

NAOMI, Junior Counselor

My name is Naomi, and I am going to be a Junior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 17 years old. I was born in Denver, Colorado, and I live in Chevy Chase, MD.  I go to school at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, and my favorite subject/area of study is theater. I want to be an actress on Broadway someday.  I have 1 brother and 1 sister. Their names are Tayla and Ben.  I also have a dog named Feivel Reuben Cohen.  At camp, my favorite things to do are arts and crafts, singing and anything to do with water. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are theater, hiking, tennis and hanging out with friends at Tasty Diner.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Fight Club, Up in the Air, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and anything Disney, and I really like to listen to a mix of everything except country and Miley Cyrus. My favorite foods are sushi and oreos.

SAMANTHA, Office Assistant/Science Specialist

My name is Samantha and I’m going to be an Office Assistant/ Science Specialist this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 18 years old. I was born in Washington, DC and I live in Lanham, MD. I go to school at St. John’s CHS, and my favorite subject/area of study is biology/science. I want to be a plastic surgeon someday. I have one brother named Brian. I also have a dog named Roxie. At camp, my favorite thing to do is science-infused arts & crafts. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are reading and conducting experiments. My favorite movies and TV shows are House, Tarzan, and Pocahontas, and I really like to listen to Prince, Hall & Oates, and Lady Gaga. My favorite food is seafood in all varieties!

SOFIA, Senior Counselor

My name is Sofia, and I’m going to be a Senior Counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 20 years old. I was born in Washington, DC and I live in Washington, DC. I go to school at Bard College, and my favorite subject/area of study is foreign language. I want to be a lawyer someday. I have one brother named Alex. I also have a cat named Marcel. At camp, my favorite things to do are swim, play soccer, and have fun with friends. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are playing soccer and hanging out with my friends. My favorite TV shows are House and Trueblood, and I really like to listen to John Legend and Amy Winehouse. My favorite food is shrimp. Hi campers! I’m so excited to be a counselor and meet all of you and get to know you and have fun this summer!

WILLIAM, LIT

My name is William, and I’m going to be a L.I.T. this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 14 years old. I was born on the 4^th of July in Washington, DC and I live on Capitol Hill. I go to school at St. Peter’s School on Capitol Hill, and my favorite subject/area of study is math and science. I want to be an amazing engineer or inventor someday. I have one brother named Donald and one sister named Sophia. I also have a parakeet named April. At camp, my favorite things to do are play games with all the campers and spend the night at the J. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are running, camping, traveling overseas with my family, and playing Mario Kart. My favorite movies are the Harry Potter series and I really like to listen to The Beatles. My favorite food is fresh crab and Hibachi shrimp. I look forward to teaching the JCC campers origami, how to do the Rubik’s cube, and playing fun sports. It is going to be a great summer at the J!

ALEX, LIT

My name is Alex Watson, and I’m going to be a L.I.T. this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 15 years old. I was born in 1995, and I live in Fairfax, VA. I go to school at Chantilly High School, and my favorite subject/area of study is science. I want to be a philosopher someday. I have one sister named Hannah. I also have a parakeet named Crony. At camp, my favorite things to do are play izzy-dizzy, go on field trips, and play in the squash courts. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are biking, playing soccer, and going outside. My favorite movies and TV shows are The Office and The Lion King, and I really like to listen to the SpongeBob Theme Song. My favorite food is bagels. Dear Campers, I can’t wait for camp! I’m so excited to meet all of you and have a great time at camp! See you soon!

DEJA, LIT

My name is Deja, and I’m going to be a L.I.T. this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 13 years old. I was born in Tacoma Park, Maryland, and I live in Washington, DC. I go to school at Sacred Heart, and my favorite subject/area of study is language arts. I want to be a lawyer or teacher someday. I have a dog named Max. At camp, my favorite things to do are arts and crafts and cooking. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are dancing, singing, and volleyball. My favorite TV show is Jeopardy and I really like to listen to pop and R&B music. My favorite food is sushi and pasta. I will try my very hardest to make your camp experience the best and as fun as possible!
