 Meet the Counselors:

We're are in the process of hiring our counselors and having them fill out our questionnaires so you can get to know them better.   I'll keep posting them as they're sent to me.  We have a number of of last summer's staff, or their siblings, returning this summer!

ALISON, Camp Director

My name is Alison, and I’m going to be the Camp Director this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 25 years old. I was born in New Jersey, and I live in Bethesda, MD.  I went to school at the University of Maryland, and my favorite subject/area of study was Education.  I have 1 sister. Her name is Erica.  I also have two dogs named Kayci and Molly (who was rescued from Hurricane Katrina)!  At camp, my favorite things to do are sports and field trips. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are playing soccer and watching reality TV.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, and anything reality, and I really like to listen to Sublime and Rascal Flats. My favorite food is pizza.

My name is Claire, and I’m going to be a junior counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 16 years old. I was born in Washington, DC , and I live in Chevy Chase, MD.  I go to school at Stone Ridge, and my favorite subject/area of study is music and science. I want to be a doctor, a performer, or a teacher someday.  I have 1 brother. His name is Tim and he worked here last summer. I also have a cat named Pepper.  At camp, my favorite things to do are play games and swim. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are doing shows, piano, and stepping.  My favorite movies or TV shows are American Idol, and I really like to listen to all kinds of music. My favorite food is chocolate covered raisins.  I am excited to meet you all and I look forward to spending the summer with you!

My name is David, and I’m going to be a counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 18 years old. I was born in Washington, DC, and I live in Washington, DC.  I go to school at St. John’s, and my favorite subject/area of study is math. I want to be a computer programmer someday.  I have 2 sisters. Their names are Nnenna. I also have a dog named Lucky.  At camp, my favorite things to do are basketball and swimming. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are football.  My favorite movies or TV shows is Scrubs, and I really like to listen to John Legend. My favorite food is pizza.

ETHAN, Junior Counselor

My name is Ethan, and I’m going to be a junior counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 17 years old. I was born in Lexington, VA, and I live in Alexandria, VA.  I go to school at T.C. Williams High School, and my favorite subject/area of study is psychology. I want to be a psychologist someday.  I have 1 twin brother. His name is Seth. I also have 3 cats named Rachel, Sasha, and Anya.  At camp, my favorite things to do are go on field trips, participate in color war, and play sports. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are playing guitar, volunteering, and sports.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Friday Night Lights and Pulp Fiction, and I really like to listen to rock, acoustic, country and alternative music. My favorite food is Chinese food.  I look forward to spending a fun-filled and exciting summer with you!

HANNAH, Junior Counselor (Camp Adventure)

My name is Hannah, and I’m going to be a junior counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 16 years old. I was born in Washington, DC, and I live in Silver Spring, MD.  I go to school at Montgomery Blair High School, and my favorite subjects/areas of study are psychology and religion. I want to be a teacher or psychologist someday.  I have 1 brother. His name is Robin. I also have a cat named Mr. Magoo.  At camp, my favorite things to do are swimming, arts and crafts, and theater. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are playing golf and teaching Hebrew School.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Seinfeld and Curb You Enthusiasm, and I really like to listen to all types of music! My favorite food is pineapple.  I can’t wait to meet everyone and have a fantastic summer!

My name is Jennie, and I’m going to be a counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 22 years old. I was born in 1985, and I live in Adams Morgan, DC.  I am a recent college graduate from Goucher in Baltimore, MD, and my favorite subject/area of study is communications/public relations.  I have 1 brother. His name is Ethan. I also have a dog named Gimbels!  At camp, my favorite things to do are team games. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are being with friends.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and I really like to listen to all kinds of music. My favorite food is thin crust pizza.  I look forward to working with you this summer!

JENNIFER, Head Counselor

My name is Jennifer, and I’m going to be a head counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 21 years old. I was born in Syracuse, NY , and I live in DC.  I will go to law school in August, and my favorite subject/area of study is French. I want to be a lawyer someday.  I have 1 brother and 1 sister. Their names are Carolyn and Aaron. I also have a fish named Gefilte!  At camp, my favorite things to do are arts and crafts. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are reading and baking.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Harry Potter, and I really like to listen to the radio. My favorite food is chocolate chip cookies!  I’m so excited for this summer and I can’t wait to meet you!

My name is Jessica! At the time of camp, I will be 22 years old. I was born in Seattle, and I live in Washington, DC.  I went to school at the University of California San Diego.  At camp, my favorite things to do are playing games and sports outside. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are being with friends and snowboarding.  My favorite movies or TV shows are funny ones, and I really like to listen to all kinds of music. My favorite food is Greek and Italian food.

My name is Ross, and I’m going to be a senior counselor this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 19 years old. I was born in Silver Spring, MD, and I live in Chevy Chase, MD.  I go to school at Cornell University, and my favorite subjects/areas of study are history, music and labor relations. I want to be a hotel/restaurant owner someday.  I have 1 brother and 2 sisters. Their names are Drew, Casey, and Sharle. I also have a dog named Tess.  At camp, my favorite things to do are swimming, chatting, and playing basketball. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are watching and discussing movies and music, exploring new things, and reading.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Pixar, James Bond, and Seinfeld, and I really like to listen to the Beatles, David Bowie, and Weezer. My favorite food is Italian.

My name is Tami, and I’m going to be in the camp office this summer! At the time of camp, I will be 22 years old. I was born in New Jersey, and I live in Washington, DC.  I go to school at American University, and my favorite subject/area of study is American history.  I have 2 sisters. Their names are Amanda and Kelsey.  At camp, my favorite things to do are swim and go on field trips. During the rest of the year, my favorite activities are reading and participating in my campus community.  My favorite movies or TV shows are Scrubs, Top Chef, and the original Star Wars, and I really like to listen to rock music. My favorite food is fresh strawberries.

CAMP YAD B’YAD
Plans for this camp include building shelves (using power tools was a favorite activity last year), working on a ropes course, making and serving food at DC Central Soup Kitchen, painting a mural, and more!
