Specialty day camps for children entering PreK–Grade 6

Summer 2014 Specialty Camps

Summer 2014 LEGO® Camp:   

Session Dates:
June 23-27

$550 per session; Members $480

At LEGO® Camp, campers spend half the day working with the experts from Digital Kidz on designing and building LEGO® projects and the other half of the day enjoying all the other wonderful things the DCJCC Camps have to offer.

Jr. Robotics

Digital Kidz Junior Robotics is an introduction to building and programming for younger students using traditional LEGO bricks and the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT.  The game like environment makes learning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills fun. Design, build and program your bot to play Robot Soccer, maneuver obstacle courses and compete in Robo Races and Sumo-Bot!


Robotics – The Next Generation

Using 3D building instructions and the most advanced technology ever developed, students work with LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3, the latest generation of robots. Advanced technology means stronger, smarter, faster robots.  Program using software based on the industry-leading graphical programming language used by scientists and engineers worldwide or your smart device! Students command their robots to walk, talk, think and do anything they can imagine.

Summer 2014 Karate Camp NEW!

Entering Grades K–6

Session Dates: August 4-8

$550 per session; Members $480

At Karate Camp, campers spend part the day working with the experts from Kaizen Karate on their Karate skills and the other part of the day enjoying all the other wonderful things the DCJCC Camps have to offer.

Kaizen Karate offers a youth classes, which take place in positive group setting.  The first is Little Ninjas, which are offered specifically for 4-5 year old children.  The next class offerings are Beginner classes, which are tailored toward those who are 6 years old and up and have a white, orange, yellow, or green belt.  Next, are Intermediate and Advanced classes.  Intermediate is designed for students with a purple or blue belt and advanced classes are for students with a brown, red, or black belt. 

All classes are tailored to student’s individual needs and helps them grow to their fullest potential possible. Karate classes not only focus on instruction, but also learning valuable lessons related to discipline, motivation, self-control, and continual improvement.

Summer 2014 Theater Camp  NEW and Improved!

Entering Grades 1–4

Session Dates:
July 14-25

$1100 per session; Members $960

Under the direction and guidance of professional teaching artists from Imagination Stage, campers learn the “nuts and bolts” of developing a story, creating characters, and putting on a play from “page to stage.” Camp days are filled with fun, active, educational experiences in creative drama, music, movement, and visual arts/production, along with rehearsals for an original musical production. This camp also develops important life-long learning skills such as teamwork, active listening, creativity, spontaneity, and risk-taking. At the end of the two weeks, campers share their final performance with family and friends.


Summer 2014 Chess Camp 

Entering Grades K–6

Session Dates:
August 11–15

$550 per session; Members $480

Regardless of previous chess-playing ability, Chess Camp is fun for fans of the game! From beginners’ strategy to building mastery, this camp will provide lessons, mentoring and the full complement of DCJCC camp activities.

Summer 2014 Outdoor Adventure Camp 
Two sessions!

Entering Grades 3–6

Session Dates:
July 21-25
July 28-August 1

$550 per session; Members $480

Campers stretch their legs outside the beltway to enjoy many of the different outdoor activities that the region has to offer. Campers will hike in the Shenandoah National Forest, learn map and compass skills,, canoe or raft in some of our local scenic rivers, visit natural springs and watering holes, and spend the night outdoors camping. Campers will have a great time learning about the outdoors while they are experiencing it!

Summer 2014 Jr Adventure Camp 


Entering Grades 1–2

Session Dates:
July 28-August 1

$550 per session; Members $480

Our Jr. Adventure Camp takes some of the highlights from our program for older campers and makes them accesible to our younger campers. Campers may go hiking at Great Falls, climbing at a local Rock Gym, tubing down a local river and more. (Please note that this program does not include a campout)
