CLEAN UP TRASH FROM THE RIVER AND WETLANDS
Arm yourself with rubber boots, grabbers and trash bags and walk along the water’s edge picking up litter and debris brought in by the river.  You will work along the banks of the Anacostia River, the River Trail, and the Boardwalk Marsh. You will be given boots, gloves and trash bags to help remove the trash and make the park more beautiful. Please feel free to bring your own tools and gloves.

TO REMOVE EXOTIC INVASIVE PLANTS
You will be weeding and removing exotic invasive plants and vines from around trees along the boardwalk and river trails to give the natural plants a space to grow.  You will uproot the vines and invasive plants from around the entrance of the river trail, along the posts and decking of the boardwalk, and around the ponds.  We will provide you with all tools and directions necessary to complete this work: loppers, prunners, saws, rakes and gloves too! Please feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you’d like.

CLEAN THE RIVER IN A CANOE OR KAYAK 
Help clean the river, in the river!  You will be on the river in canoes and kayaks, paddling into deeper water to get trash from the harder to reach areas. Previous experience with either kayaks or canoes is required, and volunteers need to be at least 18 years old.  If you have your own kayak or canoe, feel free to bring it along as well!  You will be given life-jackets and gloves.

TO RENEW RECREATION AREAS
A Family Friendly Project
Join other Spring into Action volunteers as we restore Kenilworth Park and make it as clean and green as possible.  This project is great for kids. Grab a trash bag and a pair of gloves and walk around the park and open recreation areas to clean up any trash that was left behind during the winter season.  Please feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you’d like.
